time waits for no man ...

in a rush of endless work ... time has already crossed into the mid week. so what has gotten sorted out for the work? nutting. everyday is fighting fire for everyone, trying to make the marks and hopefully get a break to take a sip of water and rush off to fight another fire.

total work done = none. it seems that everything else is of outmost importance and your own work and projects get thrown to the bottom of the pile. its TIRING and EXHAUSTING, not to mention that you are still being chased for your own work.

oh well ... WORK !!!

on a lighter note, pc show is around the corner this weekend. 19" LCD? :)

burnt ...

i'm badly burn ... to a point that my hands, neck and face are all red and painful. i think the sun was really scorching yesterday.

i was helping out at the HAPPY HAPPY CARNIVAL which is actually organized to help raise funds for doing community work in the mountbatten area of kampong arang and dakota. i did apply sunscreen but apparently it didnt work ... either it got washed off or somehow its expired already.

had a bad time at work today, esp with the long sleves bitting into my just so sensitive skin. of coz the whole world was asking what the heck did i do over the weekend. but at least i can say that i was helping out in some charity / community service work. so its for a good cause. had to eat at some aircon place for today, cause the heat will kill me if i were to eat at some hawker centre. hopefully the heat and pain will subside ... but i think once it does, my skin will start pealing out ...

i'm out of cooling gel for solar relief soon; my tube of ~H2O+ solar relief is running out. but i would say that it is really effective. it has my affimation that it works and its not just all adverts and 'branding'. i wonder where i can get my next tube, when ~H2O+ has somehow scaled its operation down in SG to just one retail outlet at suntec. when it first came into SG couple of years back, it has many outlets over the island, at citylink, taka and raffles city. call it branding, but its like some boutique and sells only its own stuff and doesnt allow other dept stores to carry its product. maybe i should look into other brands that are effective but not as expansive, heh.

gotta eat at the club tomorrow evening, less my food rebate gets taken back by the club when it expires on the 31st.

happenings in a shaky world ...

well, i'm one of the more soft hearted people around. things are not going well for the customer at work. mergers are always scary, esp if your division is being eaten up by another. as with any mergers, its the admin team that will go first. so its really no surprise that things are happening in such a way. the admin team will be gone ... but the ops will remain for the short term until a solid decision has been reached. its upper management's call at the moment, we will all have to go where the wind blows...

i feel for the pple that have to go. it sucks ... especially when you are enjoying your work at the moment and suddenly this stuff falls into your lap. i guess basically, u will not have the heart to work at all. i understand ... so i wont be stepping on toes unnecessarily. but sometimes, u just got to decide whats the best path forward.

well, there will be a major meeting tomorrow with regards to pay revisions. upwards or downwards is everyone's guess. some might get more ... some might get less. it all depends on what are the changes in place. everyone is worried, as you know ... everyone works for money. if the revision is downwards, there might be an exodus of people from the core of the company, which is a scary thing.

the future lies in the balance of what is going to happen in the next couple of months down the road. there will be upheavals and changes, but we have to adapt, if not we will be finished. he who reacts the slowest will be the first to be eliminated.

where are you ... when i needed you most ...

what is life when its so full of grey areas?

something interesting to share ...

fingers drumming* says: true..
*fingers drumming* says: life doesn't seem to be so simple anymore
*fingers drumming* says: seem have to a lot more grey areas
Crawy ... says: yes ... life is full of grey areas ... but its you that defines the black and white lines.
Crawy ... says: we can muddle around and along the grey areas n get lost. or decide on the path we should take.
Crawy ... says: choose your destiny. or make sure that it has been choosen for you already.
*fingers drumming* says: interesting..

weekend's over ...

time really flies when you are at rest. its really happening that time seems to be on accelerated speed when you are supposed to be relaxed and resting. didnt do much this weekend. rest and recupurated at home and spent time with the family.

we had lunch at the club on sunday afternoon - brunch buffet. the spread is almost the same as before with a couple of small changes. i didnt eat much though. just tasted a little of this and a little of that. i dun think i have the stomach to eat a lot at buffets again, unless the food is very good. call me picky, but there is something i need to keep in check. =)

basically it rained for much of sat and sunday but somehow the east side of singapore only got drizzles. so much for car washing. i'm slacking in the car washing department somehow as the weather never seems to be kind enough to give the car a proper wash or wipedown.

things are slowing down at work again. seems like my customer is getting confused and demoralized by the current state of management changes ongoing in their company. but what we know is that it will not be happening for at least the next 6-9mths.

on another front, it seems that there is going to be an official announcement of sorts this coming friday. lots of rumours going around about the changes in the pay structure and sorts. but i dun know if everyone will be affect or so. well ... this is changes in the the cost model of the company, due to changes in the CFO perhaps. we'll see friday.

7th month festival is here agian ...

well folks, the haze index has gone up in sg these couple of days ; not because of the forest fires in indonesia, but because of the constant buring of incence paper and the likes. i'm not too bothered by it as i do not have a known ashma problem, but it does affects my oxygen intake. my little fast jog today left me really breathless, because of the joss sticks etc being burnt in the hdb estate just around the corner. i think i might have to find another route to jog if the air conditions becomes worst. i dont want to sear my lungs with unnecessary smoke intake.

things are really quiet in the office today. maybe its the 7th month 'celebration' in the office and everyone was kind of just doing their work quietly. things are not going well for our customer as there has been a major announcement of merger of divisions in their company. i lot of pple could be laid off, but it depends on what is really going on. now things are still up in the air, lots of speculation going on and stuff like that. i dont really invite myself to gosiping if i got work to do, so usually i listen for a while then excuse myself.

on a lighter note, my fren finally confessed that he is planning to get married come nov this year. which makes it 3 of my closer frens that i know that are tying the knot! haha, the main excuse this time is that prices of property are going UP slowly, so if wait any longer, it will go up more than they can afford! oh well, i guess its for the good also. when push comes to shove, money really does count ... doesnt it?

testing of hexagonal lightbox

finally got to test out my new lightbox from shanghai. the quality of the box is below par. the seams are over stretched. seems like there are gaps at the joints. oh well, for the price that i'm paying, i'm not complaining one little bit.

colours are good. and the light is very well diffused and distributed. anione game for a shoot?

late nite jog ...

this is the last time i'm jogging late at nite.

1. its hot
2. it just takes too long to cool down
3. even after a shower, you still feel sticky
4. there is less pple that spur you on to go for another round
5. i think i'll stick to jogging at 6.30pm

success

what defines success ? i think a lot of pple in this world would say that success is getting what ever you desire. dictionary.com defines success as " The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted ". so i guess a lot of pple in this world would agree with dictionary.com i guess.

but if success is gained thru unscrupulous means, then is that considered true success? what if that success brings along other undesired circumstances (elvis presley for eg) ... is that still measurable as being "successful"?

everybody wants to rule the world. i think there are many a tune that sings of this little dream that everyone has. maybe we were influenced from young by the cartoons or comics that we see (superman is a very big culprit).

but as we grow older, saving the good pple from the bad went into the depths of our memory. instead, worldly measures then start forming themselves in our eyes. cash, credit card, car, condo, career. the measures of success then counts on what your take home salary is compared to your mates, how high up the corporate ladder are you in your organization and how big your wallets are (that means how many cards you can carry. now i kind of understand why ladies carry such big wallets ... hmmm). but are these true measures of success?

lets picture oneself, relaxing by the pool side condo, your credit card at the bar counter, where you have opened an account to call for drinks and food at your whims and fancies, your car being washed in the area near you ... but you are ALONE. yes you may have achieved everything your world desires, you have nothing that money cant buy ... but do you call that success? what is success ... with it being gained at other pple's expense? what is success, when you lose your soul ?

success when you are alone is empty ... when you cannot share the gains of your success with others. or simply saying ... there is no one around that you would want to share your success with. it is bitterness, especially when you tastes the sweetness ... and at the end of the day, you realise that it is not the success that you are looking for all your life.

think about it today, have you made decisions that lead you to worldly desires. have you forsaken the important things to you so that you are able to carry on your quest for the desires of the world? as the saying goes in the business world, a great business man is one that makes a mistake only once in his career ... and learns from it.

return of the one ...

my rabbit is back ! :)

updates for the weekend

i would say that this weekend is pretty full with activities, not to mention that the EPL soccer fever is back and there are games every weekend.

Saturday: shopping at Peninsular Plaza for some photography stuff. Apparently, Adelphi building has changed their carpark fees. NO MORE per entry after 130pm on saturdays. Sheeh! there goes the last cheap parking place in the city. !!!! . i guess its back to buses and trains for me whenever there is a need to go downtown. shopped at Ikea with DnD as well but i didnt get anything significant. Wanted to get some bed spreads ... but aint too sure about the thread count. i'm spoilt, now that i have tasted the feel of good sheets, i'm not going back to sub-standard stuff anymore. Boring night of soccer though, fell asleep halfway thru the match !

Sunday: managed to get most of my stuff done by 3pm and headed down to the beach with DW and gang. new faces i saw this time. it wasnt that hot, maybe due to the shower that came down upon most of the island at lunchtime. i plain forgot to slap on the sun block but thankfully, i didnt get burnt... just a slight headache. found a new place to park the car since the car park was blocked. but then again, its a pretty long walk, unless we are heading for the other side of the beach. dinner was at fongseng. indulgence in x01 mutton cheese prata. but somehow, the server forgot to hold the onions! ?*^$!!! but then again, he miss calculated, and we got a prata foc. haha. serve him right. it was soccer again at DW pad after dinner. more exciting match this time with 2 goals scored. sheeh ... chelsea didnt deserve to win.

not my responsibility

oh well, its not that i didnt offer the help. but of coz a free trip to chinese china is tempting. i can go shopping after work. but then again, the decision is not mine to make. so i'm absolved of all responsibilities. heh. good luck then, the calls have been made, the dies have been cast. make it or break it then, i wont be involved.

i'm late for supper. its a long time since i've ate one. but then again i'm too full for supper. must be the fruits after dinner that is filling.

leave approved ...

Got my leave for my Vietnam trip in late Sept signed off today by my boss.
I think I might be part of the organization movement of re-allocation. I'm not sure what that means ... its a feeling that I cant just shake off. Well, I guess we will know in a couple of months time ...

thoughts after the holiday

Finally got my last invoice from L'oreal. I guess it would be a while before I get any more photography jobs from them as my key contact has been posted elsewhere. Hopefully the next person taking over her post gets my contact and is able to build some rapport.

I hate WinXP. Why does Microsoft start this authentication thingie where you have to be validated before you are given access to Microsoft updates and stuff from the web? I don't understand this whole process. I mean, I have a perfectly fine Original XP and they still require me to validate it? Its total crap in my opinion. They claim its to protect us genuine users from pirates out there but its invasion into my private space!!! Bad mood ...

Oh well, at least the scanning is good. Finally managed to get it working to my whims and fancies. Although I still cant get it to work perfectly. There are some images that came out with the colour balance totally off. Its good to see your works up on a larger screen I guess.

I miss ... I miss.

what about LOVE

love by its very nature opens you up to being burned.

...you got to be tough to love and lose...

Happy Birthday Singapore

40 years of independence. i guess it counts a lot for a fishing village right smack in the middle of the world's most travelled waterways. HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE !!!

techno update :)

been working all weekend to try out some new cloning / mirroring softwares. they do work as advertised but somehow a full test of its capabilities have to await further study. have managed to borrow a film scanner from a friend, who borrowed my most expansive lens to shoot. finally have gotten a chance to get some of my films scanned in. scanning from negatives is a lot better than scanning from prints. and there are negatives which i never did send for prints anyway due to a lot of things, cost being one. so, there goes my holiday. i guess something to do is better than none at all. managed to get my laptop hooked up to do the batch scanning so i can work on my pc instead. heh.

on a lighter note, things are picking up in the office. quite a bit of job alocation changes going on right now. think would have to get going on more stuff already. the way it looks, i might be on another project prob by the end of the year, it seems. its pretty hard to tell, since a lot of my job scope currently is not completed and there is still a lot more to be done before things can be handled over.

Arsenal 1 Chelsea 2

I guess the title say it all. Well ... lets see how Chelsea does this season. If history goes, the winners of the community shield have won the league only on 3 occasions.

Sexually suggestive lines from the Star Wars trilogy...

'Get in there you big furry oaf, I don't care what you smell!'

'Luke, at that speed do you think you'll be able to pull out in time?'

'Put that thing away before you get us all killed.'

'You've got something jammed in here real good.'

'Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?'

'You came in that thing? You're braver than I thought.'

'Sorry about the mess...'

'Look at the size of that thing!'

'Curse my metal body, I wasn't fast enough!'

'She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid.'

'I thought that hairy beast would be the end of me.'

'Size matters not. Judge me by my size, do you?'

'There's an awful lot of moisture in here.'

'But now we must eat. Come, good food, come...'

'That's okay, I'd like to keep it on manual control for a while.'

'Hurry up, golden-rod...'

'I must've hit it pretty close to the mark to get her all riled up like that, huh kid?'

'Possible he came in through the south entrance.'

'And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!'

'Control, control! You must learn control!'

'Hey, point that thing someplace else.'

'I look forward to completing your training. In time you will call me master.'

'I never knew I had it in me.'

'There is good in him, I've felt it.'

'Hey, Luke, thanks for coming after me -- now I owe you one.'

'Back door, huh? Good idea!'

'She's gonna blow!'

'I think you'll fit in nicely.'

'Rise, my friend.'

'Wedge! Pull out! You're not doing any good back there!'

slow tuesday ... as always ...

1. bought a couple of gift boxes. but still at a lost of what to enclose within.
2. work is slow today. good, got lots of time to think and analyse stuff clearly.
3. a fast run in the park. it aches, but feels good.
4. i understand now why gyms have such a good following: they are air-con. you sweat less when working out.
5. yawn ... i wonder how long i can keep this up.
6. i dont like truckers, esp when they decide to cut you off on the roads without signaling.

the aftermath :-X

groan ... my legs muscles are tight. really tight ... craps ... even climbing the stairs is difficult. hmm, dunno if i should be taking another run tomorrow or head to the pool to loosen up. i should say "take it easy". a body shouldn't be trashed too quickly less it loses its function.

why should we be concern about the things that are beyond our control? worrying about it would not help at all thats for sure. but we are born to worry. find me a person that doesnt worry and i will find something for him/her to worry about.

it sucks when things are not going your way ... or that your greatest fears are confounded. but how you respond to that will make pple reckon with you even more.
